    BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
    The math teaching position is a salaried exempt position that reports to the Chair of the Math Department, and the administrative team of Principal and Vice Principals.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Experience teaching high school Math – advanced levels preferred.

    • Demonstrate passion and expertise in the teaching of mathematics.

    • Establish mathematics goals to focus learning.

    • Establish tasks that promote reasoning and problem solving.

    • Use and connect mathematical representations and pose purposeful questions.

    • Facilitate meaningful mathematical discourse.

    • Build procedural fluency from conceptual understanding.

    • Support productive struggle in learning mathematics.

    • Elicit and use evidence of student thinking and engagement.

    • Proficiency in the use of technology in the classroom, a willingness to incorporate technology as a strategy to engage learners and competency using technology as a learning-based management system.

    • Willingness to differentiate learning to reach a range of student learning styles.

    • Instruct full-credit math classes, assigned at the discretion of the Math Department Chair.

    • Participate in school-wide and departmental faculty meetings and professional growth opportunities.

    • Eagerness to plan and teach through collaboration with subject-matter colleagues.

    • Engage in the life of the school community through presence at school Masses, assemblies, rallies, class retreats, sporting events, visual and performing arts events, etc.

    • Chaperone and supervisory responsibilities during the school day and at some evening and weekend events.

    • Meet with students and parents, as needed, during x period, before, and after school.

    Requirements

    EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
    ● A degree in a Math field, Bachelor minimum, Masters / credential preferred.
    ● Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP) courses is preferred, but not required.
    ● Ability to develop and implement an effective and engaging curriculum.
    ● Ability to relate to high school students and build positive relationships while maintaining healthy boundaries.
    ● Willingness to collaborate, problem solve, and share best practices with colleagues.
    ● High level of familiarity with and competence across cultures and multiple perspectives.
    ● Familiarity with and competence in technology skills, and desire to keep learning.
    ● Must have excellent classroom management, communication, and organization skills.

    Wage Range
    The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
