    Description

    Pivotal is a pioneer in the eVTOL aircraft industry.

    Our company designs and manufactures electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft, known for their efficiency, compactness, and simplicity. These vehicles cater to various consumer, public service, and defense applications.

    The tilt-aircraft architecture and scalable platform of our vehicles have been under development for over 10 years, with our next-generation aircraft, the Helix, set to enter the market soon.

    The mobility sector is highly valued in today's technology landscape, making Pivotal a key player in this space.

    About the Job

    As a firmware engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a secure, robust, and expandable firmware architecture that serves as the backbone of the aircraft's flight control system.

    You will participate in flight testing to gain hands-on experience with the aircraft systems.

    Responsibilities

    • Design and develop software/firmware for sensors, control systems, communications, and navigation projects.
    • Enhance testing automation, software quality, data collection, analysis, and validation processes.
    • Identify and troubleshoot production issues, determine root causes, and implement timely fixes.
    • Assist in flight testing at local and remote sites.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
    • At least 4 years of professional experience.
    • Strong programming skills in C/C++, Python, and experience with ARM microcontrollers.
    • Hands-on experience through employment, student teams, and/or co-op internships.
    • Experience with real-time systems, Linux development, and low-level communication protocols (CAN, SPI, I2C, UART).
    • Familiarity with control systems, robotics, and/or sensors.

    Bonus Qualifications

    • Experience with embedded security.
    • Experience with BLE.
    • Experience with Motor Controller embedded firmware.

    Compensation and Benefits

    The salary range for this role is $82,500 - $206,250 per year, reflecting Pivotal's Pay Structure - Pay Bands (PB) 13-17.

    Applicants must be eligible for employment in the United States and willing to work onsite at our HQ office in Palo Alto, CA.
