    Description


    The Clinical Pharmacy Assistant assists the Clinical Pharmacist in the day to day comprehensive, customer-oriented clinical pharmacy services provided by PACE North Michigan.

    The Clinical Pharmacy Assistant works in collaboration with the Clinical Pharmacist and reports to the Clinical Pharmacy Manager of PACE North Michigan.

    The Clinical Pharmacy Assistant must be able to exercise a high level of professionalism in interdisciplinary communication, maintain attention detail with high-quality product, and demonstrate dedication to continuous process improvement.

    He/she assists the Clinical Pharmacist and interdisciplinary team in identifying and resolving drug-related problems for participants in a fast-paced clinical environment.

    In addition, the Clinical Pharmacy Assistant works closely with the corresponding operational pharmacy facility to help ensure accuracy and avoid gaps in care.

    The Clinical Pharmacy Assistant participates in advocating for pharmacy services.


    SPECIFIC DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:
    Greet/wait on/service/answer question etc. for the store's customersReceive prescriptions/gather and process patient informationComputer processing/adding patients, doctors, drugs, etc.
    Filling Rxs/processing/counting/labeling, etc.
    Answering the phoneCall Doctor's office for refills when neededCalling Doctor's office for patient/Rx information -clarification, etc.

    Take phone in prescriptions from Doctor's office @ pharmacists' delegationCall insurance company when neededChecking in Rx orders for patient/calling on shorts, overages, order errors, outdates, credits, out of stocks etc.

    (including the out-front orders when necessary)Inventory control-walking the shelves/straightening/checking for outs and over stock/checking for outdates, checking transfer website, etc.

    Daily orders for inventory/stock reviewing the negative on hand, counting/correcting improper inventory countsIntegrated teamwork with the Enrollment team for medication reconciliation, running MAPS reports, and on-boarding new participants.

    Supporting Fraud, Waste and Abuse efforts by preparing detailed enrollment grids for new participants and communicating with the dispensing pharmacy.

    Supporting Fraud, Waste and Abuse efforts by preparing accurate medical utilization updates and communicating with the Clinical Pharmacist, interdisciplinary team, and dispensing pharmacy.

    Reconciling allergies and immunizations and updating pharmacy demographics for all participants.

    Prepare initial and annual Comprehensive Medication Review packets using a set of clinical criteria and communicating with the Clinical Pharmacist.

    Reviewing, executing, and communicating in collaboration with the Clinical Pharmacist on all refill requests from the dispensing pharmacy.
    Communicating with skilled nursing facilities for medication administration records and reports as assigned.

    Reviewing and counting through Top 200 inventory when received from the Rx Services DeptReviewing and attempting to correct prescriptions listed on Little A reportReviewing and correcting prescriptions listed on Negative Paid ReportReviewing medication synchronization calendar and processing patients 3-5 days prior to sync dateChecking on owes and making sure items have been ordered and received promptlyStock Rx dept.

    daily with supplies/bags/vials, etc...Clean Rx dept.-straighten/dust/empty trash/vacuum, etc...

    File and complete daily information on Rx's filledSeparate and file invoicesCheck in C-IIs and complete order formsReturn prescriptions to stock not picked after 30 days, credit insurance company and patient recordsProcess third party checks via Epicor and enter into google drive spreadsheet dailyOutdate checks are posted under miscellaneous, not third partyClean/maintain the computer system:
    delete duplicate drugs files, prescriber files, etc.

    Run cash registerHelp out front when necessaryPrint and mail out statements in a timely manner at the beginning of each month.

    Keep pharmacy manager updated as to any problem accounts or discrepanciesMake sure all past due accounts are taken care of in a timely manner.

    Report accounts over 90 days to Pharmacy ServicesMake sure that everyone running a cash register is aware of bad accounts, or questionable circumstancesTrain back up person for vacations, sick days, etc.

    High school diploma or GED required.
    Current Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) license with the State of Michigan, preferred.
    Current CPR card preferred.
    Previous experience of at least 6 months preferred.
    Proficient computer and typing skills.
    Ability to operate a calculator and use intermediate math skills.
    Ability to communicate clearly both in-person and over the phone.
    Ability to work effectively with others.

    Ability to multitask, to manage several different projects at once and ensure that everything gets completed in a timely manner.

    Pay close attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality.
