- Evaluates and documents patients' response to care, and evaluates impact of illness on patients' health status, functional status, nutritional status, sleep and rest patterns, family and social relationships, and establishes a health promotion strategy.
- Participates in clinical research/data collection and assists in projects and planning for continual development of respective specialty.
- Provides formal/informal clinical and professional educational programs to improve staff knowledge.
- 34 shifts/week with an expectation of 34 nights per month and 12 weekends per month.
- Board Certified Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Preferably at least 1 year of experience in cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, general surgery, cardiology, or critical care.

The Cardiac Surgery Advanced Practice Provider operates under general supervision and in accordance with APP standardized procedures/protocol:
As an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant), you will exercise independent judgement in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of medical processes and procedures, in accordance with the nurse practitioner or physician assistant licensure regulations of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and as delineated in the written Scope of Practice/Protocol for APPs.
