    At Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI), Master Planning is charged with enabling smart growth by lending development, infrastructure and real estate expertise to the global and portfolio-specific master planning and project development processes and providing stewardship for existing destination resorts and planned development mixed use communities.


    Our areas of expertise include;

  • Transportation and infrastructure analysis and planning
  • Entitlement acquisition, management and real estate transaction support
  • Interface and relationship management with local and regional regulatory agencies
  • Environmental planning, stewardship and sustainability best practices
  • Long-range sustainment of post-development covenants
  • Special projects & new business development support
    This position will have the following responsibilities – primarily focused on Asia - as part of the Master Planning Predevelopment core mission;
  • Coordination with internal and external partners including WDI Global Creative Strategy, Blue Sky studio, Global Development, Transportation, Legal, Communications & Government Relations as well as government/regulatory agencies and private developers
  • Real estate entitlement support and sustainment activities including strategy development, negotiation support, permit coordination, creation of and amendments to legal documents, contracts, covenants, restrictions, etc.
  • Development of scope, preliminary schedule and estimates/budgets, contract initiation and procurement as part of the project Predevelopment process
  • Provide critical input and support to project teams especially related to strategy and concept development, and conflict resolution as part of the master planning and real estate business plan and development processes
  • Interface with senior leadership both within WDI and Site as well as with external partners/agencies
  • Analyze and realize specific development feasibility strategies for Predevelopment phase projects within TWDC global resorts and attractions portfolio with a particular focus on entitlements, land use/feasibility and transportation/infrastructure planning
  • Coordinate with finance and business leads on AOP and FYP planning cycles as it relates to transportation and infrastructure planning
  • Identify, hire and manage a broad range of external consulting resources
  • Act as the Company representative with external government entities and community groups and associations and negotiate, problem solve issues to resolution

    Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience
  • Proven experience in multiple facets of master planning processes and areas of expertise
  • Proven experience having primary accountability for P/L or delivering to budget
  • Supervisory experience with experience running department or portfolio
  • Experience interfacing with local, regional and federal development entities
  • Ability to negotiate in an adversarial/competitive environment, resolve conflict and gain consensus within a diverse group
  • Ability to convey and instruct multiple teams in the planning and creation of authentic and immersive Disney resort, commercial and attraction projects
  • Possess world class reputation and expertise in master planning and high level conceptual planning for theme park or large scale real estate expansions
  • Keen evaluator of vendor and consultant talent, capacity, qualifications, commercial terms, and plans and proposals
  • Strong conflict resolution and problem solving skills
  • Ability to travel internationally one week per month, with some variance based on business need

    Education:
  • 4 year degree in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Urban Design, Real Estate Development or business from an accredited program required
  • Advanced professional degree (Masters) in related discipline preferred
  • Continued education and advanced studies in computer science, graphic/informational design and/or GIS (Geographic Information Systems), preferred The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $163,500 to $219,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
