- Leads and manages technical teams for assigned design disciplines during a pursuit or final design project.
- Responsible for completion of project design tasks within engineering disciplines, in accordance with project design criteria and project management plans.
- Ensures Kiewit's Standard Operating Procedures are communicated and followed.
- Controls cost of the design and all engineering services.
- Manages quantities and constructability throughout the design process for assigned design discipline.
- Has the flexibility to work within multiple design disciplines.
- Reviews and administers design engineering contracts.
- Monitors and reports progress against design schedule.
- Partners with design discipline lead and construction estimator/superintendent to meet project objectives.
- Mentors junior staff with technical and professional development.
- Design quality management plan champion for the engineering design team.
- Develops project budgets, schedules and staffing plans for KIE final design projects.
- Identify opportunities to leverage technology.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technology and industry practices and find practical applications.
- Good negotiation, presentation and persuasion skills. Experienced in communicating ideas, winning approval, and reaching resolutions with a variety of audiences.
- Ability to manage projects and progress ideas to execution in a complex environment.
- Strong analytical ability along with the capacity to interpret data and make recommendations.
- Comfortable with change and ambiguity; adaptable, collaborative and a systems thinker
- Proficient in design software and tools as well as other software programs such as Microsoft Office.
- Professional Engineering license in one or more States or Provinces, with ability to get registered in others.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil, Structural, Ocean, or Coastal engineering (or similar field) from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
- 10+ years of experience in waterfront and marine structures
- Experience designing and delivering projects that have marine or coastal components.
- Ability to manage and control quality, schedule and budget performance of engineering teams.
- Three to five years of management experience preferred.

- Work productively and meet deadlines timely
- Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
- Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
- Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
