Job Summary:

Under administrative direction of the General Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer deals with evaluations of manufacturing processes in a high-tech discrete manufacturing facility. Develops and participates in a highly cross-functional role that balances cost-reductions, inventory reduction, process analysis and continuous improvement in a Lean and ISO standardized facility. Serve as a role model for company values and culture and as a resource for internal customers on technical topics. Interfaces with Operations and other facility engineering departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

In addition to various tasks assigned by the supervisor the following are basic duties and responsibilities:

Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
Provides manufacturing decision-making information to Operational Management by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
In collaboration with Operations, prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Works to facilitate change-management within the facility.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Credentials and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science
Experience with Lean Manufacturing/Lean Leader skill sets
Experience with strong process analysis and continuous improvement
Experience working within the requirements of ISO standards.
Experience in ERP and other planning & costing systems
Experience in document control and training activities

Special Requirements:

Willingness and ability to work long hours and weekends as required.
