- The A/R Follow-Up Representative position is responsible for all insurance follow-up on assigned accounts from the management team.
The core responsibilities of an A/R follow-up representative include research, insurance billing and adjustment identification to ensure proper account resolution.
This position requires the ability to work independently, accomplish goals, excellent customer service and communication skills, creativity, patience, and flexibility.
A/R follow-up rep relies on guidelines established by the organization to perform job functions and work under general supervision in a moderately fast paced environment.
A/R follow-up Rep usually reports to the department lead or supervisor. - Minimum Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum Work Experience
- Minimum 2 years previous work experience as an insurance follow-up rep preferred.
- Required Licenses/Certifications
- Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Knowledge of medical practices, terminology, and reimbursement policies.
- Skill in planning, organization and problem solving.
- Skill in evaluating the effectiveness of existing methods and procedures.
- Knowledge of EOB's, modifiers ,CPT & ICD-10 codes, HCFAs, and authorizations/referrals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read, interpret and apply policies and procedures.
- Must have full understanding of insurance follow-up processes (i.e. billing collections, managed care, Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial practices), and well developed interpersonal skills.
- Reliable attendance record.
- Ability to interact with patients, medical and administrative staff, and the public effectively.
