Job description
DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:
TACs are the adult leaders for a Cadet Company at the Academy and oversee the holistic development of cadets.
The TAC Officer is a key figure in the cadet development process, serving as a Teacher, Advisor, and Counselor—responsible for instilling discipline, supporting character formation, and guiding cadets through their academic and personal challenges.
TAC Officers oversee their cadets beyond normal class hours in their physical development activities, mandatory study periods, and mentoring.
They function in loco parentis, i.e., as the cadet's parents while he is at school, supporting the cadet's personal development while upholding the expectations of the Academy, enforcing personal appearance standards, room cleanliness, commitment to academic/athletic programs, and good conduct. Many Academy alumni describe their TAC Officer as their father figure while away at school, and attribute their successes to the TAC's input.
No other member of staff on campus spends more time with and knows cadets better than their TAC Officer. For that reason, the Cadet's TAC officer is the first point of contact for all parents who may have questions about their cadet's living situation, academic progress, discipline record, emergencies, or other cadet life issues. The relationship between the TAC Officer and his cadets' parents forms an essential partnership that enables their cadets to succeed.
TACs coach, teach, and mentor the cadet chain of command, empowering them to take ownership and a level of responsibility for their Cadet Company.

- Supervise and manage daily life in the cadet company, including accountability, appearance, and conduct.
- Enforce school policies and the military code of conduct.

- Monitor and guide cadet leadership in planning and executing duties.
- Lead by example with integrity, professionalism, and a strong moral compass.
- Organize and oversee drill, inspection, and ceremonial activities.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
QualificationsEducation:
A bachelor's Degree or equivalent military qualifications are desirable.
Experience:
Previous military experience (Retired or Reserve NCOs/Officers encouraged to apply).
Previous experience working with adolescent youth (middle/high school) and/or background experience as a counselor within a residential/boarding school environment.
Attributes:
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and interpersonal skills.
- Professional attitude.
- Physical fitness is consistent with the demands of the role.
