    Overview

    he primary purpose of the Director of Performance Improvement/Quality position is to function as a change agent of The University Hospital Management Team by teaching and directing the management and unit staff the application of Performance Improvement/Continuous Quality Improvement Process to advance patient care and safety.

    This role is responsible for the documentation of each unit/service area and Department yearly plan, its execution and the staff's ability to articulate and implement improvements.

    Responsibilities

    The Director of Performance Improvement/Quality is skilled at interfacing with diverse groups in interdisciplinary and interdepartmental forum focused on improving and innovating care.

    The Director of Performance Improvement/Quality has extensive knowledge in process redesign/re-engineering, Continuous Quality Improvement Processes, American Nurses Association Standards of Clinical Practice, Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Organization Standards National Patient Safety Goals, Patient Bill of Rights, Department of Health Standards, Hospital Policies and Procedures and Patient and Patient/Family Centered Principles and emphasizes patient safety in each practice and policy.

    She/he engenders confidence, trust and fosters collaborative/collegial relationships that generates staff achievement and pride.

    Qualifications
    Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey. Master's Degree in Administration/Education or a related field plus at least two (2) years of related experience is required. Certification in Quality Improvement Techniques is preferred. Must be able to solve complex system problems, write effectively and speak articulately. Equivalent education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the Master's Degree requirement.
