The Automotive Service Technician functions as a skilled-level technician who is able to perform diagnostics and repairs in all areas
Supervisory Responsibilities:
NoneDuties & Responsibilities:
Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair.
Communicates with Parts Department to obtain needed parts.
Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician.
Inspects and test drives newly delivered vehicles for obvious damage and missing major components and drivability functions.
Installs optional equipment specified by the customer or dealer.
Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean.
Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals, returning to proper place.
Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner, reports safety issues immediately.
Performs other duties may be assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities:
Experience in a High-Volume Shop Outstanding experience in diagnosing and repairing vehiclesSuperior customer serviceStrong communication skills and work ethicCommitment to continuous improvementExperience maintaining high customer satisfactionExtensive knowledge of the specialized area and general vehicle repair.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software.
Ability to read service and repair manuals.
Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.
Ability to read work orders.
Must be able pass pre-employment screen (background & hair follicle drug test)
Education & Experience:
ASE Certification.
High School Diploma or GED.Valid Driver's License and clean driving record.2+ Years of Experience in a dealership or similar environment.
Prior body work experience. Previous B Class general service technician.Participant in a manufacturer-sponsored training program, school, or event.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
Must be able to lift up to 45lbs. regularly.
Must be able to inspect vehicle to determine repairs needed.
Good vision to inspect repair work.
Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
