Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and customer-focused Food Truck Driver / Chef to join our well established catering team at Southbound BBQ & Catering in West Chester, PA. This role combines safe vehicle operation with day-to-day truck setup and event execution. The ideal candidate will have step van or large commercial vehicle driving experience and a passion for delivering great food and service to various catering service destinations. Culinary experience is preferred in order to assist in food preparation alongside our catering staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely drive and operate a step van food truck to various locations, events, or regular service stops.
- Set up the truck for departure, including fuel fill ups, parking, and connecting utilities (if needed)
- Assist in food prep and ware washing
- Follow all local traffic regulations.
- Report any mechanical issues or service needs to management promptly.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license (CDL preferred, but not required)
- 3+ year clean driving record mandatory.
- Experience driving a step van or large commercial vehicle preferred.
- Prior food service or customer-facing experience a plus, but not required
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices or willingness to obtain
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work /drive food truck, equipment, and catering staff passenger to various catering events Wednesday-Friday, and some weekends. Hours and days will vary week to week, and month to month based on catering schedule
Working Conditions:
- Work is mobile and primarily will be within the step van food truck
- Work with chefs and serve staff to load food and equipment prior to departure and unloading upon return to our kitchen
- Must be comfortable working in varying weather conditions and high-heat environments.
- Fast-paced environment with physical activity including standing, lifting, and reaching.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $35.00 per hour
