    Description

    Purpose:

    The purpose of the Project Engineer Internship is to provide valuable exposure and experience in the construction industry and to KCI's culture.

    The Project Engineer Intern will have the ability to apply coursework through work experiences.


    Areas of Exposure/Responsibilities:

    • Assist in the preparation and coordination of submittals.
    • Maintain submittal log and timely receipt and review of submittals and shop drawings.
    • Maintain RFI logs and assist with timely response to project questions.
    • Assists in preparing project status reports and attend project status meetings; assists in development of meeting minutes.
    • Assists with updating the project schedule.
    • Assist with project-close out activities.
    • Develops warranty/O&M manuals, as directed.
    • Assists with any estimating activities, as assigned.
    • Attend weekly progress meetings.
    • Performs additional assignments as directed.

    Qualifications/Experience:

    • Currently enrolled in an accredited institution earning a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree is preferred.
    • At least one internship in construction/engineering preferred, but not required.
    • A high degree of integrity.
    • Display a positive and can-do attitude.
    • Effective interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to meet deadlines with attention to detail.
    • A self-starter, team player and the ability to communicate in a professional manner.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

    Physical Demands:

    • Work is normally performed in a typical office environment.
    • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
    • Limited exposure to physical risk.
    • Noise level in the office environment is usually quiet, but on-site might have higher levels of noise.
    • While performing the duties of this role, employee will be required to sit, talk, and hear.
    • Employee is occasionally required stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop or kneel.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust and focus.
