Job Title: Environmental Technician at the Storm Water Quality Division in the Public Works Department of the City of Oklahoma City

The **Storm Water Quality Division** of the **Public Works Department** in Oklahoma City is looking for a dedicated **Environmental Technician** to join their team. As an Environmental Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with environmental codes and protection standards in the city. Your responsibilities will include conducting field inspections, enforcing environmental regulations, responding to citizen inquiries and complaints, and managing environmental incidents effectively.

Departmental Information

The Storm Water Quality Division is responsible for providing a range of services to ensure compliance with the Clean Water Act's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit. As part of the Construction Permits and Auditing Workgroup, you will be tasked with permit inspections, training, enforcement, and emergency response activities.

Job Summary

As an Environmental Technician, you will be a key player in conducting environmental screenings, enforcing regulations, and responding to environmental emergencies. Your role will involve engaging with citizens, businesses, and other stakeholders while upholding environmental standards. You will also participate in public awareness programs, meetings, and water quality testing activities.

Job Requirements

Knowledge of relevant environmental codes and regulations.

Ability to conduct on-site inspections and utilize safety equipment.
Proficiency in using geographic information systems.
Capacity to interpret regulations and follow instructions.

Departmental Preferences

Education in Chemistry, Biology, or Environmental Science.
Experience in NPDES Storm Water Programs.
Proficiency in ArcGis and Microsoft Office.
Experience in water quality assessments, audits, or enforcement.
Certifications like 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification preferred.
