    DSHS WSH Forensic Psychologist 3

    Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

    Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs.

    We're hiring motivated, enthusiastic applicants to work as evaluating Psychologist 3s in the Gage Center of Forensic Services.

    You will conduct evaluations and provide expert testimony for civilly committed persons in accordance with RCWs 10.77 and You will prepare petitions for court and provide expert testimony in support of psycho-legal opinions regarding diagnosis, grounds for civil commitment, and placement readiness under direct and cross-examination, relying on established psychological principles, facts and functional data.

    Some of what you will be doing:

    • Conduct evaluations for civil commitment, conditional release and less restrictive orders in accordance with RCWs 10.77 and 71.05.
    • Provide court with petitions, affidavits, letters or other required documentation.
    • Provide expert testimony in support of psycho-legal opinions regarding diagnosis, grounds for commitment, and placement readiness under direct and cross-examination, relying on established psychological principles, facts, and functional data.
    • Make recommendations to the court regarding whether conditional release to a less restrictive alternative is in the best interest of the patient.
    • Provide consultation to treatment teams, to include discussion of readiness for discharge, treatment needs and treatment recommendations.
    • Review case findings with prosecutors and defense counsel as necessary.
    • Conduct psychological testing
    • Complete required documentation according to professional, hospital, and CMS standards.
    Who should apply?


    Professionals with a Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited school or department of psychology and one year of postdoctoral psychology experience, preferably working in an inpatient or forensic setting with a severely behavioral ill population.

    Individuals with formal training in evidence-based treatment modalities or forensic/psychological testing are preferred.

    Individuals must obtain an Agency Affiliated Counselor Credential.
