Staff Accountant

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Receivable:

Generate and send accurate invoices based on activity reports, adopted rates, charges, and contract terms for customers.
Verify account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating information from customers.
Monitor payment statuses and receivable accounts, including aging reports, and follow up on overdue payments.
Resolve collection issues by examining customer payments, payment histories, and customer reports, and following up with customers as needed.
Collaborate with the Accounting and Admin departments to address and resolve any issues with business partners.

Accounting Functions:

Coordinate period closing activities and reports with the Accounting and Admin team.
Reconcile all bank accounts monthly and report results to the Accounting Manager.
Conduct variance analyses and prepare account reconciliations.
Assist in the preparation of various periodic and annual financial reports and audits.
Maintain the fixed asset ledger, including acquisition and disposition of assets, and associated depreciation schedules.
Maintain the capital asset subsidiary ledger and reconcile it with the general ledger.
Reconcile petty cash.
Serve as a backup for other accounting functions, particularly Accounts Payable, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

Bachelors degree in accounting or a related field, with specialized training in bookkeeping, file management, accounting/general ledger software, database management programs, and spreadsheets preferred. An associate degree and a minimum of 10 years of accounting experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelors degree.
Valid Drivers License required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and database programs.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to make decisions based on sound judgment, organize and prioritize tasks, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to schedules and deadlines.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with a diverse range of individuals.
Understanding of basic bookkeeping principles and office management systems and procedures.

Work Environment:

Typical office setting with standard office equipment. Occasional travel may be required.
