    Job Summary:

    Responsible for: providing overall program oversight for a 5-county region with 2 subcontractors. Responsible for planning, development, and maintenance of all components of program operations for the BFF-NY Grant. Possesses expertise that qualifies him/her to provide and oversee breastfeeding participants, support groups, and policy implementation across a diverse array of sectors. Provide technical breastfeeding education, promotion and training to staff and other agencies on an as needed basis. Maintain compliance with: Federal, State, and Local Agency BFF NY Program policies and regulations.

    Job Duties:

    • Provides full supervision to assigned staff, interns, and volunteers; Provides orientation and training on program, department and agency needs, services, expectations, regulations, and policies. Conducts performance appraisals annually.
    • Ensures subcontractors are performing at contract standards and addresses any concerns or barriers in a timely and professional manner. Provides supervision and overall support and guidance for subcontractors.
    • Supervises and designs breastfeeding promotion and support; addresses common breastfeeding concerns through the implementation of support groups
    • Develops a repository of all breastfeeding support groups across the region. Establishes new support groups where appropriate and provides capacity and resources to those already in existence.
    • Acts as primary point of contact for state oversight agencies. Completes and submits all required program reporting to state oversight agencies.
    • Refers prenatal and postpartum participants to peer counselors and other breastfeeding support resources, including Community Health Workers.
    • Develops procedures for documentation of breastfeeding services provided, healthcare and community organizations working toward policy implementation , and community mobilization activities
    • Provide leadership in the planning, conducting and evaluating participant centered breastfeeding education and promotion services in the community. Ensures program facilitated support groups are distributed equally across the 5-county region.
    • Provide leadership and assists in orienting/ training/mentoring new staff through the lens of health equity
    • Directs the scope of work with healthcare practices to implement breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and lactation supports across the region.
    • Directs the regional scope of work for the implementation of breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and lactation supports in worksites.
    • Designs workflows, process maps, resource guides and job aides that assist in the development and designation of the NYS Breastfeeding Friendly Practice Designation
    • Oversees and approves all BFF-NY program communications, social media accounts, websites, and community resources.
    • Builds, expands, and activities breastfeeding coalitions across the region.
    • Collects and aggregates data from subcontractors for state reporting.
    • Ensures program implementation breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and lactation supports in community and public spaces.

    Job Requirements:

    • Must be familiar with breastfeeding education, promotion and county health resources as they relate to special populations.
    • Must demonstrate current competencies applicable to the position including good business management and sound judgment.
    • Must be able to effectively supervise staff in a warm, professional, non-judgmental manner; be a positive role model; instill a sense of the program, department and agency mission to others.
    • Must exhibit professionalism, good judgment, flexibility, courtesy, and integrity.
    • Must possess good communication skills, be able to follow oral /written directions and maintain client confidentiality.
    • Must be motivated, have the ability to relate to clients in a caring and sensitive manner, be a positive role model to clients and staff and work collaboratively with others.
    • Must possess a valid NYS Driver's License with good driving record and have access to a reliable vehicle for travel throughout the county and occasionally, outside the county throughout the 5 county region
    • Must be able to attend to detail and accuracy.
    • Must attend trainings, in-services and seminars for skill maintenance and enhancement.
    • Must have good knowledge of the region and resources for the lower socio-economic population in each county of focus.
    • Must be flexible and able to work hours of operation to meet program and participant needs.
    • Must have the ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Health & Human Service related field
    • One to three years related experience which includes supervisory and management experience
    • CLC or IBCLC strongly encouraged or ability and willingness to obtain and maintain CLC and/or IBCLC
    • Any relevant combination of education and experience

    Full-Time 37.5 hours per week

    Monday through Friday - 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

    Grade 12
