What you’ll be doing...
The Cost Management Director position leads all of the third party cost reduction initiatives for the Verizon Enterprise Solutions (VES)Business Unit. The position includes vendor negotiation with relationships that drive over a billionin cash expense annually. The targeted director will negotiate deals with key vendors (Cisco, Juniper, etc.)that drive efficiencies across the business. The director will develop programs for reverse auction, cost buildup (clean sheeting), and discounting opportunities. All vendor and deal management cost negotiations will flow through this group to ensure best cost in all scenarios across network, security, and professional services.
Key Vendor delivery negotiations:
Develop process and governance to maximize discounts (alternative service models, renegotiating leases and capturing greater incentives. Build targeted groups that manage the largest vendors and works to develop strategies to minimize cost and improve Verizon positioning in customer deals. Ongoing ownership of the vendor selection process and working with the business to document key requirements. Incumbent’s team will track and validate all of the expense savings for presentation at the executive level.
Vendor selection and consolidation:
Design a process to establish best practices in vendor selection criteria and partner with Sourcing in driving Vendor scorecards. A key aspect of this responsibility will be to rationalize the various functions where we use external vendors and minimize the number of vendors through consolidation on the best cost providers who provide the scale and quality required for Verizon brand. Optimize product and service specifications to minimize total cost of ownership. Regularly conduct lean reviews with suppliers to remove hidden costs across supply chain. Ensure compliance with preferred vendors and demand management policies.
Cross Functional cost management engagement:
Institute a strategic partnership between Procurement and VES. Improve knowledge of the Third Party Vendor spend across the organization. Incumbent will communicate cost reduction targets to the Network, Security, Cloud and Pro Serve teams and ensure compliance with the centralized process. Group will be charged with the periodic renegotiation of vendor contracts to achieve incremental savings and cost reductions as well as to ensure best in class performance / quality. Drive operational improvement: and improve time to market and quality through supplier relationships and leverage (e.g., testing, and localization practices)
What we’re looking for...
10+ years’ experience with financial planning, analysis, and modeling
Procurement or industry experience with an understanding of vendor landscape (especially in the B2B space)
Cost reduction experience and must have experience with business case analysis
Demonstrated ability to develop and manage high performance teams
Ability to work under tight timelines
Must be comfortable with presenting results of financials analysis with C-level management
Ability to maintain budgetary control and provide monthly presentation to management.
Exceptional experience with MS Office Suite: Excel, Powerpoint, etc.
Strong executive communication skills with ability to influence and drive results.
Ability to gather and dissect data quickly and effectively.
Must have good problem solving skills
Must be able to make prudent decisions with significant financial implications
