- Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited college or university
- Valid Ohio Special Education Teaching Certificate/License
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate
- Ability to work effectively with others

- Knowledge of FERPA and HIPAA
- Knowledge of Ohio's Academic Content Standard

- Serves as member of the building intervention assistance teams
- Provides support for the case managers of students referred to intervention assistance teams, including observations of students
- Assists in reviewing the implementation of 504 Plans and IEPs
- Provides modeling of specific teaching strategies for the classroom teacher
- Provides additional support for classroom teachers through information on research, changes in the law, and speakers on relevant topics
- Occasional interaction among unruly children
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue
