- The Peer Recovery Specialist will provide structured, scheduled activities to clients in the community that promote socialization, recovery, self-advocacy, and development of natural supports.
- Supporting individual in identifying goals, treatment options, and resources needed and connecting individual to appropriate services/resources.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships by maintaining open and professional communication with Team Leaders, clients, other consumers/constituencies, referral sources, staff/team members.
- Complete documentation timely and accurately, maintaining ethical standards of Adult & Child Health.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Up to 12 months of specialized training
- All applicants must be either a Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) or Certified Addictions Peer Recovery Coach (CAPRC) in the State of Indiana, or meet the eligibility requirements for the Certified Recovery Specialist Program or requirements for the Certified Addictions Peer Recovery Coach for the State of Indiana. It will be required that a candidate hired without the certification must become certified with the first 3 months of employment to retain their position. Certification requires that a candidate "have lived experiences receiving mental health or substance use treatment and have been in recovery for at least one year". Adult & Child Health is an integrated healthcare provider in Central Indiana. About this role: This position will use a multi-disciplinary team comprised of Psychiatry, Team Leaders, Therapists, Skills Development Specialists, Nurses, Peer Specialists, Housing Specialists and Job Coaches to engage and support our consumers.
Candidates must self-identify as an individual in recovery from mental health and/or substance use, and/or may have experienced homelessness. Candidates must be maintaining healthy recovery and have the ability to tell their story of recovery to provide hope and encouragement to others. In addition, this position will provide skills training related to managing chronic diseases.
The Location and hours: A&C is based in Central Indiana. For this position, you will work Monday - Friday and have the opportunity for flexible scheduling.
