The ideal candidate will have prior healthcare experience and familiarity with medical terminology. This individual will maintain accuracy and confidentiality while filing medical records to ensure quality patient care.

Medical Referrals Coordinator Responsibilities:

1. Manage all incoming and outgoing referrals, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information.

2. Communicate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation and information for referrals.

3. Coordinate appointments for patients with specialist providers as per referral guidelines.

4. Verify insurance coverage and obtain pre-authorizations for referred services.

5. Maintain updated records of referral activities, including tracking referral status and outcomes.

6. Act as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to resolve any referral-related issues.

7. Educate patients on their referral process, including necessary steps and required documentation.

8. Collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely and efficient processing of referrals.

9. Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to referral processes.

10. Stay current with insurance regulations and guidelines pertaining to referrals.

Medical Referrals Coordinator Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent

2. Prior experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in referral coordination or a related role.

3. Strong understanding of medical terminology and insurance procedures.

4. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

5. Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) and referral management systems.

6. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

7. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

8. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.

9. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy laws.

10. Willingness to adapt to changes in policies, procedures, and technology.
