- Assembles machinery, fabricated metal products, electrical equipment, appliances, and more according to directions.
- Reads blueprints, schematics, or similar documentation, then builds to those specifications.
- Uses various machines and hand tools to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Maintains logs, records, and reports concerning production, machine maintenance, and product inconsistencies.
- Maintains equipment and conveyors and performs basic repairs when needed.
- Inventories tools, parts, and supplies; contacts materials handler if supplies are needed.
- Periodically checks products per company policy to ensure quality and uniform completion; resolves any identified problems and alerts supervisor.
- Travel to customer sites for installations, training, repairs, warranty work, retrofits, safety improvements and equipment transfer as needs (Travel may be up to 50% of the time)
- High School Diploma or equivalent combined with certification classes (Technical School preferred) and/or years of experience in field.
- At least 1-3 years experience with hand/power tools, drilling, taping, grinding, and sawing.
- Mechanical assembly knowledge and skills.
- Knowledge of specific packaging equipment components is a plus.
- Verbal and written communication skills required: Ability to speak, write, read, and interpret documents in English.
- Interpersonal skills required: Must be able to communicate professionally and collaborate with internal employees and maintain relationship with external vendors.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills required: Outlook, Excel, and other programs to be utilized proficiently.
- Solid mathematical skills required: Ability to calculate in all units of measure and apply formulas.
- Must be able to apply common sense understanding and to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.
- Maintain work area to acceptable safety and housekeeping standards and assist with product quality, audits, and orders as needed.
- Be able to lift and move up to 35-50 lbs.
