    Senior Electrical Design Engineer Role

    Spang Engineered Solutions, a division of Spang & Company, is a leading provider of custom inductive components for various industries, including renewable energy, solar, medical, aerospace, automotive, and military.

    Job Summary

    We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at our Pittsburgh, PA location. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing designs for inductors and other magnetic devices for customers, developing and maintaining the necessary tools and reference information, and supporting production teams in China and the US.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Respond to customer inquiries for design support, determining the most appropriate approach based on customer needs.
    • Maintain and improve inductor design software, developing new design software as needed, and researching available tools.
    • Prepare internal RFQs, part prints, and review documents.
    • Support production teams by answering questions, anticipating potential issues, and providing training on electrical test equipment.
    • Work with engineering and manufacturing personnel to transfer new products to the factory floor, developing procedures and checklists for manufacturing personnel.
    • Participate in up to 25% travel required to SES manufacturing locations or meetings with potential customers.

    Requirements

    The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics, with 5-10 years of experience in transformer/inductor design. Exposure to electrical component manufacturing and testing is essential, with a background in Power Distribution Systems, Control Systems, Failure Analysis, Electrical Product Design, or NEC being desirable.
