- Master's Degree in counseling or social work field required from an accredited institution;
- Appropriate licensure is preferred but not required (LCPD, LPC, LMSW, LGSW or LICSW)
- Familiarity with Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), District of Columbia Municipal Regulations, Title 5 Education, The ASCA National Model: A Framework for School Counseling Programs, ASCA National Standards, ASCA School Counselor Competencies, ASCA Ethical Guidelines, ASCA School Counselor Performance Standards, and NASW Ethical Guidelines.
- Experience as a related service provider, secondary experience preferred
- Experience working closely with diverse families of students with disabilities
- Experience/training in anti-racist school and therapeutic practices
- Knowledge about special education and 504 practices and regulations, particularly those pertaining to DC schools
- The ability to collaborate and work as part of a team
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong interest in, or experience with, language immersion, 1:1 technology, and IB Middle Years Program model
- Commitment to keeping current on best practices and evidence-based interventions in special education, technology, and general education
- Commitment to ensuring access and achievement for our learners with exceptional learning needs
- Bilingual in Spanish (preferred but not required)
- Provide direct support services to individual students, small groups, and classrooms, including through group and individual therapy and classroom support.
- Document all services in EasyIEP (special education database)
- Develop present levels, goals, and progress notes for students on caseload.
- Complete assessments, referrals, and counseling with students and families.
- Provide crisis intervention.
- Utilizes responsive counseling, initiating individual and group sessions for students' academic, social and personal concerns.
- Monitor student attendance and implement attendance interventions as needed for students on caseload.
- Develop and maintain family outreach programs and community partnerships.
- Serve as a member of the family support team and other school based teams.
- Serve as school liaison to social service agencies.
- Advertises course offerings to students and supports the scheduling process.
- Completes the course selection process including updating and editing student course selections.
- Collaborate with general and special educators, coordinators, and leadership.
- Communicate through a variety of mediums with parents and students.
- Embrace French, Spanish, and Chinese cultures by leading and participating in cultural activities for faculty and students
- High degree of communication through a variety of mediums with parents and students.
- Ensure that our 1:1 Chromebooks program is implemented effectively for students by infusing technology into instruction.

Position Overview: Social and emotional health of students is a priority of DCI as we work to teach and support the whole child. A social worker at DCI is integral to DCI's Multi-tiered System of Supports and will support their team in strengthening these systems. This position entails providing behavioral support counseling services to students with IEPs and 504 plans at DCI in order to promote a positive educational environment for all students. This position will also collaborate with appropriate personnel to ensure positive educational and counseling practices for the students.
Social Workers report to work on July 25th.
Salary Range: $64,349- $108,691 (Starting salary is determined by education and years of relevant experience.)
