    QTEC Aerospace is seeking a SOFTWARE ENGINEER to join our team of professionals in Colorado Springs, CO. The successful candidate will become part of a team of professionals representing both industry and government in support of a Missile Defense System (MDS) with a mission of protecting the United States and our allies. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, have a proven track record and a positive work ethic.


    Job Summary

    QTEC Aerospace is looking for highly capable and motivated individuals. The successful candidate will function as an integral member of a multi-contractor team providing program, engineering, and technical support to Missile Defense programs. The successful candidate will be a member of the team responsible for developing and integrating future-capability prototypes for the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS), including Sensor/Weapon Integration, Algorithm Development, User Interface Development, and other critical leading-edge missile defense technologies.


    Job Duties/Responsibilities

    Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:

    • Plan, conduct, and coordinate software development activities
    • Design, develop, document, test, and debug software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions utilizing data processing equipment
    • Apply the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle
    • Apply knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software
    • Correct program errors, prepare operating instructions, compile documentation of program development, and analyze system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls
    • Ensure software standards are met
    • Work hours are standard office hours, though occasional nights and weekends may be required during special events

    Minimum Education and Experience

    • Bachelors of science degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or Physics or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience with at least 5 years of related professional experience
    • The position requires an IAT Level II 8570 Compliant Certification such as Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA, etc.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Strong experience with Java or C++ software development
    • Possess an understanding of software development processes and principles and be able to communicate the desired capabilities to developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and system users
    • Experience with both Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems
    • Be familiar with Microsoft Office products such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and prepare and brief presentations to the customer as needed
    • Self-starter with ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

    Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Experience with software testing or software integration
    • Ability to refactor code for reusability, readability, and maintainability in an object-oriented codebase
    • Experience in application deployment, integration, and troubleshooting
    • Experience with Eclipse IDE, Maven, and Git
    • Ability to adapt to changing requirements and design challenges that require novel solutions, fast-paced activities, and tight deadlines

    Security Clearance

    Candidates must currently have and be able to maintain a minimum DoD SECRET level security clearance with the ability to obtain a TOP SECRET SCI clearance.


    Salary Range

    $120,000 - $183,000

    Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
