    Summary

    We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a School Counselor at Locust Grove Middle.

    The ideal candidate will play a vital role in fostering a positive school environment by providing support and guidance to students, helping them navigate academic, social, and emotional challenges.

    The School Counselor will collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to promote student success and well-being.
    Responsibilities

    • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students to address academic, social, and emotional issues.
    • Develop and implement comprehensive counseling programs that align with the school's mission and goals.
    • Collaborate with teachers and staff to identify students in need of support and develop intervention strategies.
    • Conduct assessments to evaluate students' needs and progress, providing recommendations as necessary.
    • Facilitate conflict resolution and peer mediation among students to promote a harmonious school environment.
    • Organize and lead workshops and seminars for students and parents on topics such as study skills, stress management, and social skills.
    • Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions and student progress.
    • Liaise with community resources and agencies to provide additional support services for students and families.
    • Participate in school committees and meetings to advocate for student needs and contribute to school improvement initiatives.
    • Stay informed about trends and best practices in school counseling and mental health support.
    Requirements

    • Master's degree in School Counseling.
    • Valid state certification or licensure as a school counselor.
    • Proven experience working with middle school students in a counseling or educational setting.
    • Strong understanding of child development, educational psychology, and counseling techniques.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
    • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive school environment.
    • Proficient in using technology and software for recordkeeping and communication.
    • Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and training.
