    Inova's Life with Cancer program is seeking a Behavioral Health Therapist I to join our team supporting our oncology patients and families in treatment at our Schar Cancer Center located in our ILH Radiation Oncology Clinic.

    This position is a full-time days position working 40 hours a week. Monday - Friday.

    Responsibilities:
    • Provides psychosocial assessments and care for patients who are in active cancer treatment and survivorship; and will integrate assessments using information related to cultural, clinical, ethnic, age and other factors into the plan of care.
    • Provides a range of therapeutic interventions, psycho-educational programming and behavioral interventions (when indicated) to assist the patient/family in achieving the goals and objectives of the individualized service plan.
    • Provides care coordination to ensure the patient and family receive and are subsequently referred to appropriate healthcare and community resources to optimize treatment/intervention outcomes.
    • May participate in inpatient and community psychoeducational programs, facilitate support groups for specified disease processes related to mental health, medical diagnosis, chronic or life-limited illnesses while assisting with community outreach.
    • Provides documentation and performs administrative functions appropriate to the role, adhering to Inova Health System's Culture of Safety and participates in maintaining a professional culture throughout the organization.
    Requirements:
    • 0 years of experience plus an internship in mental health or substance use disorder treatment is required (though must then have completed an Internship in mental health or substance use disorder treatment within 90 days of employment). Experience working in the oncology setting or in medical or palliative care is preferred.
    • Masters degree, Ph.D., PsyD, EdD in mental health, social work, counseling, psychology, or behavioral health-related field
    • BLS Certification by the American Heart Association within 3 months of hire
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification within 6 months of hire
