    Position: Entry level hydrogeologist position

    Location: Jupiter Florida

    Salary: $62, $69,000.00 per year

    JLA Geosciences, Inc. (JLA), is a Jupiter Florida based hydrogeologic services consulting firm that provides water supply related services and groundwater consulting for public water utilities, engineering consulting firms, power generation utilities, private industry, and agriculture.

    JLA is a small niche firm established in 2003 with an excellent reputation and approximately 17 teamwork/science-oriented professionals working from our Jupiter office. Our professional geologists have extensive experience in geology, geochemistry, hydrogeology, and ground-water flow modeling.     Job Responsibilities:

    • Hydrogeologist or Geologist with satisfactory hydrology and geology coursework who is self-motivated and can apply his or her knowledge in the field; must have a strong work ethic and a passion for hydrogeology and geologic science.
    • Ability to learn quickly with on-the-job training, work independently and as part of a project team, grow in skills and experience and be successful even in challenging or adverse conditions.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills are required. Must have demonstrated technical writing examples and be prepared to efficiently prepare technical documents and clearly organized data presentations.
    • Duties will include primarily hydrogeology fieldwork, oversight of drilling, well construction and testing; geologic mud logging; soil and water sampling; groundwater monitoring; aquifer testing; interpretation of geologic data; report preparation.
    • Have a good, positive, and professional attitude.
    • Be efficient with work time and effectively completing assignments.

    Requirements:

    • Undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Geology
    • Master's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology, or comparable degree is preferred.
    • Related professional working experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of geologic concepts including sedimentology, stratigraphy, karst systems, aquifer testing, geochemistry, groundwater and surface water monitoring.
    • Knowledge of the geologic, hydrologic, and soil classification systems.
    • Knowledge of the principles and standards of scientific study, field investigation and sampling, experimentation, research, and documentation.
    • Ability to understand project objectives and schedules and meet critical deadlines and budgets. Ability to work with contractors.
    • Strong problem-solving skills; organized and reliable. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Technical writing experience.
    • Physically capable of lifting up to 40 lbs without assistance and working outdoors in Florida weather conditions.
    • Knowledge of hydrologic and groundwater modeling software preferred.
    • Must be willing to travel and stay out-of-area for extended periods as necessary.
    • Must pass drug test, background checks and must have a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy.
    • Must be able to reliably commute or relocate to Jupiter, Florida before starting work
    • This position is full time Monday - Friday
