- Preparing and analyzing feed and fertilizer samples in the Tifton Feed and Fertilizer Laboratory. Assisting in the performance of standard tests and analysis on raw, natural, and processed matrices using prescribed chemical and physical laboratory procedures to determine quantitatively the concentration of a chemical or chemicals in feed and fertilizer products and compliance with legal standards.Assists with complicated sample preparations.Conveys and concisely presents information.Enter laboratory test data into laboratory information systems.May be exposed to hazardous or unknown substances.May monitor and record laboratory systems such as refrigerators, ovens, and incubators for compliance with requirements. Operates a variety of laboratory equipment, may calibrate, and make minor repairs.
- May require standing for long periods and lifting 20 lbs. or more.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.Experience working in a laboratory.Ability to use a variety of pipettes.Ability to determine if instruments are calibrated correctly for use in analysis.Ability to perform analysis.Knowledge of chemicals and procedures in assignment; and/or Instrumental experience including (but not limited to) protein, fat, and fiber analysis, HPLC, UV Colorimetric, or ICP spectrophotometry.

Job Summary:
This is an entry-level position. Incumbents at this level may require additional training or experience to gain full proficiency in some or all the job responsibilities.
