    Overview

    Electrical / Mechanical Systems Engineer The Integrated Power Systems team in (Department 489) is seeking to add new engineering talent to support detailed design and new technology development for the All Electric Navy. The core focus of this group is electric drive propulsion component integration, development, test, and delivery to meet the growing need of the United States Navy for more capable and more affordable submarines. Department 489 is part of the Integrated Power Systems (IPS) Directorate responsible for developing components for the COLUMBIA Class (CLB) and the SSNX main propulsion systems (electric and hybrid). D489 is seeking engineers to support SSNX electric and hybrid (E/H) drive propulsion development, other related technical areas within the department, and/or to continue development efforts for key CLB IPS electric drive components.
    Opportunities include, but are not limited to leadership development, software and model based software development, component and system level modeling using MATLAB, power system design and analysis, and mechanical design and system analysis.
    Job duties
    • Perform engineering calculations in support of component design disclosures
    • Generate/review engineering drawings and installation procedures
    • Interface with internal Electric Boat support groups
    • Preparation of technical correspondence between Electric Boat and suppliers/customer
    • Review of supplier technical and programmatic submittals
    • Strong understanding of component and ship specifications
    • Support testing and troubleshooting for components under test
    Electric Boat offers Flexible Work Arrangements that allows some work to be performed remotely and at home. This varies from position to position based on the amount of classified material the department interacts with, as well as a few other variables.     Qualifications

    Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or related technical discipline
    Candidate must be from organizations outside of operations (Casciano/Gabriel)
