    Description

    Duties * Conduct investigations as required by appropriate authorities into allegations of mismanagement, fraud, waste or abuse, improper conduct, abuse of privileges or authority.

    * Provide for the safeguarding of all testimony, evidence, and other sensitive data, and ensure the confidentiality of all individuals is properly protected.

    * Manage correspondence, an IGARS case log, and a consolidated weekly case synopsis and conduct periodic review of the case log and open cases for regulatory compliance and meeting the office objectives.

    * Conduct organizational assessments, sensing sessions and command surveys to determine compliance with regulatory guidance; analyze and prepare briefings and reports.

    * Receive, process, and respond to requests for assistance emanating from any source such as the general public, military personnel, dependents or civilian employees assigned to organizations in the Reserve Division area of responsibility.

    * Process Inspector General Action Requests (IGARS) to resolve issues and correct deficiencies affecting individuals and eliminating conditions detrimental to the efficiency or reputation of the Army.

    * Take necessary action to resolve assistance requests or complaints, and recommend appropriate actions to the complainant, to include redress options with supporting regulatory guidance as required.

    * Lead the planning and conduct of systemic inspections within the Division and assigned units as directed by the directing authority, to determine the root cause(s) of regulatory non-compliance.

    Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

    * Incumbents must successfully graduate from the Inspector General School and maintain certification in accordance with Army Regulation 20-1 and practice IG attributes as mandatory requirements for continued employment as an Army IG.

    * In accordance with AR 20-1, applicants referred for consideration will be subject to a database check against the Army Inspector General Action Request (IGARS) database to screen for substantiated and ongoing IG investigations.

    * Any serious criminal activity, to include drug use, will result in the immediate removal of an employee from IG duty and loss of access to IGARS and IGNET.

    Specialized Experience:

    One year of specialized experience which includes responding to complaints; determining appropriate action for complaints; conducting investigations; performing teaching and training functions; and leading inspections.

    This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
