Services include capital project management, fleet services, procurement, environmental services, property management, and support services.

    Function

    Summary

    We are looking for two Senior Engineers to join the Engineering Services Division of the General Services Department. The selected candidates will oversee engineering programs, lead a team, manage project budgets and schedules, and handle various assignments.

    Major Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assist the Program Manager in planning and executing division and program projects
    • Supervise and mentor engineering staff
    • Provide technical guidance on transportation infrastructure design
    • Manage project budgets and schedules
    • Coordinate with state and federal agencies
    • Mentor engineers in project development
    • Review engineering plans

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Experience in civil engineering or municipal projects
    • Leadership and organizational skills
    • Effective communication skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Primavera, Adobe, and other software
    • Ability to work independently and lead project teams
    • Knowledge of transportation engineering
    • Experience with CAD and Civil3D

    Preferred Qualification

    • 10 years of experience in civil engineering or a related field OR Master's Degree with 8 years of experience
    • 5 years of supervisory experience

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field with 5 years of relevant experience
    • Professional Engineer licensure in North Carolina

    Salary

    • $82,755 - $103,443 (Experience-dependent)

      The City of Charlotte requires background checks for all final candidates. Checks include references, education, criminal records, and possibly credit and motor vehicle history. Final candidates must pass a drug test and physical exam. The city is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
