- Actively identify and recruit all eligible migrant children residing in the school district/community from 0 through 21 years of age.
- Survey the area regularly to confirm the location and presence of migrant workers and their families.
- Develop an identification & recruitment network with organizations and agencies that provide services to migrant workers and their families in connection with the existing Migrant Recruiter.
- Complete a Certificate of Eligibility according to state/federal guidelines for each eligible migrant family immediately upon arriving to the school district/community.
- For students in school and out of school Annually revalidate all families' most recent move information.
- Share with migrant parents and students information regarding the Migrant Education Program, as well as all school services/programs available to them. This includes instructional programs, MSIS, physical exams, alternative educational programs, and options for Out-of-School Youth, preschool programs, adult basic education programs, GED programs, post-secondary opportunities, etc.
- Refer migrant families to appropriate, health, social, or legal services to meet the needs of the migrant student's successful participation in school.
- Prepare documentation such as a recruiter log, which reflects all recruitment time and activities.
- Attend all required training sessions provided for the recruiter by the Migrant Education Program and Eastmont Monthly Migrant meetings.
- Enroll all eligible migrant students into the MSIS according to state-adopted procedures.
- Complete all forms and process information required by the MSIS.
- Update educational and health information for migrant students as required.
- Withdraw migrant students from MSIS as students leave school.
- Work with all building secretaries and Migrant and Multilingual Achievement Specialist to ensure that eligible migrant children are identified and enrolled in the MSIS.
- Work with the school nurse and Migrant Nurse Case Manager to ensure that all appropriate entries on the migrant health record are complete and updated.
- Process all incoming and outgoing correspondence dealing with the migrant records, and disseminate the MSIS records accordingly.
- Work with teachers, paraprofessionals, counselors, principals, and other migrant advocates to ensure all educational data, such as secondary and supportive data is entered.
- Required travel within the school district to locate potential qualifying families and to work as an advocate for those families.
- Visit with Migrant Funded staff to deliver updated Migrant monthly lists and support with Migrant needs.
- Assist with and attend Migrant Program Informed Parents meetings in support of Migrant Parent Advisory events while seeking to recruit new families.
- Assist in maintaining open communication between families and schools, building mutual respect and trust.
- Facilitate communication between families and the school by providing Spanish interpretation and translation when needed.
- Regularly assist the public at the District Office
- High school diploma required
- Fluent in Spanish and English; clear English and Spanish writing skills
- Proficiency in Data Entry and Recordkeeping.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing Migrant Education and Multilingual education.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated skill for problem-solving through teamwork
- Demonstrated skill for successfully working with a wide variety of children and adults
- Culturally aware and sensitive to families
- Intermediate computer skills and online skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as necessary.

- References that indicate a high level of professionalism, reliability, and devotion to educating all students
- Commitment to the education profession as evidenced by participation in curriculum development projects, District or building-level committees, professional organizations, and by evidence of continuing education.
- Valid Washington State Drivers License; current insured driver in Washington.
- Minimal lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling
- Ability to lift 30 lbs.
- Minimal stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling
- Significant fine finger dexterity
- Generally this job requires 50% sitting, 30% walking, and 20% standing
- Successful clearance of the FBI and Washington State Patrol fingerprint background check
- Successful Washington State Sexual Misconduct clearance
- Completion of Federal I-9 form
