The Highline Public Schools Student Learning Department is seeking an ML Elementary Specialist to join our team of educators for the upcoming school year
SUMMARY: The Central Office Specialist is an accomplished teacher who serves in a leadership role at the system level. A specialist provides expert consultation through facilitating collaboration, instructional coaching, and serving as a system leader across a variety of roles. The Central Office Specialist sees their ongoing learning and development as essential to achieve equitable results for all students.
Central Office Specialists provide instructional guidance, professional learning, and program implementation across the system. The ML Elementary Specialist will be a leader in supporting schools in the development and implementation of their ML Service models in an inclusive Supportive Mainstream model. This position requires deep knowledge of ML philosophy, pedagogy, and programming layered with a deep understanding of culturally responsive instructional strategies. The ML Elementary Specialists has comprehensive knowledge and experience in GLAD implementation as well as Dual Language Programming. The ML Elementary Specialist should also be experienced and proficient in curriculum design, integrating ML strategies with special education services, as well as strong experience with STI lesson design and implementation.
The ideal candidates will bring at least three years of ML Leadership experience, along with experience in dual language programs, a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience and GLAD Trainer certification.
Endorsement: Elementary Education and ELL
Term-limited: 4 year. Start date: 9/1/2026; End date: 8/31/2030
Required Qualifications:
- WA State Teaching Certificate with endorsements appropriate to subject area and grade level of assignment (Elementary Education and ELL)
- Three years successful teaching experience
- One year successful experience as a specialist or similar role
Preferred Qualifications:
- Endorsement in content-specific area
