    Ministry Position Description

    Title: Business Manager

    Accountability: Director of Operations

    Time Requirement: Part-time Hourly, Non-Exempt (20 hours/week)

    Ministry Description: The Business Manager will provide day to day execution of the non-program business aspects of the ministry. Working in conjunction with the Director of Operations, responsibilities include assisting staff members and volunteers in the administration of departmental budgets, maintain accurate financial recording, documentation and reporting.

    Mission: To support the mission and vision of Covenant Life Church by providing administrative and financial coordination to the ministry staff and congregation.

    Accountability: The Finance/Business Manager is accountable to the Director of Operations.

    Qualifications:

    • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively within the organizational structure of Covenant Life Church.
    • Exhibits a personal lifestyle and confession that demonstrates that Jesus is Lord of his/her life.
    • Preferably a bachelor's degree in business and/or a minimum of five years of experience in finance accounting.
    • Preferably have the spiritual gifts of leadership and administration.
    • Solid human relations skills.
    • Believes in the vision and philosophy of the church as communicated by the Elders and Pastoral Leadership of CLC.
    • Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge of Quick Books.
    • Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Meet with the Director of Operations and the Finance Team
    • Administration of the ministry budget and payroll.
    • Monitor and verify Credit Card limits and monthly charges.
    • Participate in the counting of weekly collections, donations, deposits, journal entries, and accounts payable and receivable.
    • Develop and distribute monthly financial reports.
    • Implementation of benefit programs for staff as directed by the Director of Operations.
    • Prepare year to year comparisons for expenses and receipts, identifying trends.
    • Work with the Director of Operations in budget development.
    • Prepare and file all tax documents for CLC.
    • Provide information to ministry leaders for the administration of their budgets.
    • Develop systems and prepare reports for all fund raising efforts such as Capital Campaigns, Care Fund, Mission Giving, On Line Giving etc.
    • Ensure proper recording of all donor gifts and provide annual statements to the congregation.
    • Maintain knowledge of new or changing tax laws impacting the church.
    • Responsibility for development and use of the Church Management System (currently Elexio).

    Human Resources:

    • Meet with employees to answer questions regarding budget, expenditures, or benefits.
    • Prepare salary and benefits information as requested by the Director of Operations.
    • Recommend to Director of Operations new policies as necessary.

    Special Projects: Oversee special projects at the request of Director of Operations
