    CalWest's client school in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area seeks a 2nd Grade Teacher to start in August 2024.


    CalWest Required Qualifications
    A Bachelor's Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
    Requisite skills commensurate with the position
    A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
    Authorization to live and work in the United States
    Client School Preferred Qualifications
    Bachelor's degree in elementary education, child development, or related field required
    Desire and ability to work in a collegial, highly collaborative environment
    Demonstrated commitment to teaching and learning in a diverse, dynamic, and progressive school community
    A commitment to anti-racism and demonstrated skill in designing equitable and inclusive educational experiences and learning environments that incorporate themes of diversity and justice
    Proficiency in and curiosity about educational technology

    Responsibilities
    Actively participate in a collaborative employee culture that is committed to being at the leading edge of JK – 12th grade education.
    Report to the Head of Lower School
    Lead teach a 2nd-grade class, including language arts, mathematics, and social studies
    Implement the school's social-emotional curriculum, which is based on the Responsive Classroom approach
    Provide a hands-on, inquiry-based style of teaching that exemplifies how student wellness, intellectual rigor, and a deep commitment to social impact and DEI are critical to the school's learning experience
    Effectively manage flexible, collaborative learning experiences with various sized groups of students
    Thoughtfully integrate technology into the curriculum
    Collaboratively design integrated, project-based experiences for the weekly block with colleagues
    Co-plan and co-teach with colleagues, including Resident Teachers, focusing on differentiated instruction
    Communicate student progress and needs with students' caregivers on a regular and as-needed basis
    Differentiate instruction for a range of learners by partnering with student support team members to effectively support and challenge each student at their "just right" level
    Continue to evolve best practices in line with the school's strategic priorities and in collaboration with school leadership
    Salary Range
    $77,500 – $140,000
