We help companies of all sizes manage their cloud infrastructure costs: everything from individual developers all the way up to multiple Fortune 500 customers. Our co-founders are industry veterans who have been former infrastructure engineers and product managers at DigitalOcean and AWS. The company is an efficient and hard working team of ~30 employees across the US with a New York City center of gravity. As we transition to the growth phase of the business, it's likely our team size will at least double into 2024.

    About The Role:

    Vantage is looking for a software engineer to be the foundation to our data platform efforts. This person will be responsible for architecting a very large scale ingestion pipeline and owning the query layer, the system which warehouses all of the cost data powering the core of the Vantage product.

    We have a data platform ingests provider cost data and transforms it to make it accessible for our multiple querying use cases. You will be working on scaling the data ingestion, transformation and query layers to keep up with the scale of our customer base and expansion of our use cases.

    We use Clickhouse, Postgres, Redis, and S3.

    What You'll Do:
  • Design, build, and maintain the data processing platform that integrates with eleven different infrastructure providers and processes billions of records per month
  • Design, build, and maintain the query and data infrastructure critical to the core of the Vantage product
  • Work directly with our founders and collaborate on feature discovery, ideation and delivery
  • Work closely with our software engineers to understand data processing needs and propose the right solutions for them
  • Measure performance of our core application and continually tweak data architecture to maintain SLAs.

    What We're Looking For:
  • A BA/BS degree and a strong technical background with 8+ years of professional working experience
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment seamlessly balancing tactical and strategic considerations
  • Comfortable developing scalable and extendable core services used in many products.
  • Experience working with MPP databases such as Snowflake, Hive, Redshift, Clickhouse
  • Experience with big data technologies like Trino, Spark, Hadoop, Airflow, Kafka
  • Developed and tuned highly scalable distributed systems
  • Experience with reliability engineering specifically in areas such as data quality, data observability and incident management
  • A kind person

  • Monitoring and observability expertise
  • Experience building and deploying to cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.)
  • Relevant Data Visualization / financial product experience

    Pay & Benefits

    The estimated annual US base salary range for this role is $140,000 - $200,000. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and location. Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and education stipends.
