    The Department of Physics at the University of Houston seeks to fill a tenure-track Presidential Frontier Faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank with a theorist specializing in condensed matter/quantum materials physics. Exceptional candidates researching materials and devices that make use of subtle and complex facets of quantum mechanics are of particular interest. Candidates must have a strong record of scholarship and be able to establish and sustain a robust, externally funded research program that will be synergistic with our materials physics programs in Physics and Mechanical Engineering. Preference will be given to those with postdoctoral experience. Candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to and potential for excellence in teaching a wide range of physics and engineering courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels, as well as in mentoring students in research. Effective communication skills are required.

    Qualifications

    PhD in Physics or related discipline. Preference will be given to those with postdoctoral experience. Rank commensurate with experience.
