- Provide advanced support in employee relations, including counseling on personnel and job-related conflicts, resolving disputes, managing performance issues, conducting exit interviews, and assessing termination requests.
- Participate as a member of Labor-Management committees and serve as a hearing officer in disciplinary and grievance proceedings;
- Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints or disciplinary matters and make appropriate recommendations for action;
- Oversee and/or conduct the onboarding process for new employees, including orientation sessions and completion of necessary paperwork.;
- Assist in updating personnel policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements and best practices.;
- Identify training needs, recommend suitable programs or resources, and coordinate training initiatives to enhance employee development and skills;
- Manage the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and extending job offers;
- Collaborate with hiring managers to determine staffing requirements and develop effective recruitment strategies;
- Administer CMHA employee compensation and benefits programs, including salary reviews, benefits enrollment, and worker's compensation management, including claims resolution and invoice approval;
- Stay informed about changes in employment laws and regulations and provide guidance to management on compliance matters;
- Conduct audits and assessments to ensure adherence to HR policies and procedures and identify areas for improvement;
- Implement initiatives to support organizational development, workforce planning, and succession planning;
- Analyze HR metrics and data to support decision-making and continuous improvement efforts;
- Supervise Human Resources Generalists; and
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Demonstrated knowledge of human resources policies and procedures, and more importantly their application in the day-to-day working environment;
- Demonstrated ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of human resources work;
- Working knowledge of statutes and regulations; Ability to analyze contract proposals;
- Thorough knowledge of equal employment opportunity, ADA, and other HR related laws;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills;
- Demonstrated advanced proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite; and
- Experience working in a unionized environment, preferred, but is not required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or a related field, or equivalent work experience;
- 5-7 years of progressive HR experience, with 2-3 years in a leadership capacity;
- 3 years of extensive employee relations experience and organizational development expertise;
- 3 years of supervisory experience; and
- Preferred certifications: PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP.
