    Hostel Manager - Live in Accommodation Available - Applecross, Strathcarron

    Location: Hartfield House Hostel (Applecross, NW Highlands, IV54 8ND)

    Contract: Seasonal (1 March – 31 October)

    Hours per week: 37.50 Hours

    Accommodation: Live in accommodation if required (monthly utility charge only)

    Hartfield House Hostel is situated in Applecross, at the foot of the Bealach na Ba, surrounded by mountains and framed by the crystal clear waters of the Inner Sound.

    Whilst your day job will be busy, and you will meet all kinds of interesting people, outside of work you can truly get away from it all. And if you enjoy outdoor activities, there is everything from mountain biking and road cycling to wild swimming, climbing and trail running available from the doorstep.

    ​We are recruiting a Hostel Manager to join our friendly team at Hartfield. We are a 4* hostel and Bunkhouse and together offer 50 beds.

    ​You will be experienced in hostel or hotel management, a great communicator who wants to work as part of a team but can also work solo.

    About the role:

    Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will:

    • provide professional, efficient and effective day-to-day business hostel management
    • manage the housekeeping and reception staff, producing weekly rotas, and using the Bright HR system for administration with the team deliver a high level of service and standard, ensuring that the accommodation is clean, in good working order, secure, and safe.
    • also to ensure that the team are welcoming towards guests and complying with Hartfield ethos manage the guest experience, online and in person, including dealing with feedback, reviews and complaints in a timely and professional manner
    • take all reasonable steps to ensure the health and safety and security of the guests, employees, volunteers and visitors at all times
    • development priorities, statutory compliance, risk assessments, policies and procedures
    • assist in the marketing, promotion and development of the hostel so as to maximise the potential annual accommodation, food, beverage and other hostel sales income, thus safeguarding the financial viability of the hostel.
