    5 year of experience working with polymer chemistry, acrylics, and polyurethanes are preferred.

    We are seeking candidates with direct, hands-on experience with product scale ups...a "roll up your sleeves" type of person and not a "delegator of tasks".

    Individuals should be proficient with AutoCAD and PowerBI.


    There is an opportunity for a successful candidate to be considered for the Chemical Engineering Manager position when the incumbent retires in 5-6 years.

    Summary/Objective
    The Chemical Process Engineer is responsible for providing chemical operations support and technical management for polymer and coating products. This position will work with chemists and operators to ensure successful product transition during scale-up.

    Essential Functions
    Complete new product/process introduction activities, including production scale-up of new polymers and assimilation of new/revised processes into the manufacturing facility
    Work directly with chemists, operations, and tolling customers concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods
    Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes

    Conduct process improvement activities designed to drive safety, quality, cost, operability or regulatory improvements. These activities can include debottleneck of existing constrained processes, introduction or new equipment and/or technology, understanding customer needs to steer factory output and evaluation of operator interaction with process and equipment to improve efficiency

    Participate in product support activities, which include providing technical coverage for manufacturing operations, and developing and maintaining standard operating procedures Assist in the design, plan layout, and oversee workers that are engaged in constructing, controlling, and improving equipment, to carry out chemical processes on commercial scale Assist in the design, procurement, and implementation of capital projects

    Complete specific projects or responsibilities assigned by the Chemical Engineering Manager in an accurate and timely manner

    Work Environment
    This job operates in a professional lab and plant environment.

    This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines as well as various types of lab testing equipment.

    The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions such as hazardous chemicals, dust and fumes which requires the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses.

    The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

    This is not a sedentary role; and will be in and out of the production area daily. This would require the ability to lift, move bend, and stand as necessary.
    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
    This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
