    Backend Platform Engineer Location:
    San Francisco (flexible/hybrid)

    Utilize the latest tooling and ML models within a dynamic startup environment.


    In this role, you will:
    Develop and maintain the platform APIs upon which our flagship Cleanlab Studio relies.

    Architect, implement, and manage our cloud infrastructure encompassing data access, security, privacy, processing, storage, and serving to construct the platform supporting these APIs.

    Stay abreast of emerging cloud technologies and assess their relevance vis-à-vis open-source alternatives to continually enhance our infrastructure. You will provide insights on when to leverage cloud services versus developing proprietary solutions.
    Devise and implement security best practices, data protection measures, and compliance protocols.

    You will identify potential risks and propose strategies to mitigate them, devising methodologies for monitoring and alerting on such risks.

    Collaborate with product, sales, external vendors, and marketing teams to deliver optimal cloud-based solutions for both current and prospective clients.


    We are seeking candidates with:
    Proficiency in software engineering, data platform architecture, and backend distributed systems development. You likely have experience constructing substantial backend distributed systems.
    Demonstrated experience deploying production code in cloud environments and resolving scalability challenges.

    A comprehensive understanding of both open-source libraries, frameworks, and systems, coupled with the ability to discern when to build from scratch versus leveraging existing solutions.

    Proficiency in Python beyond basic scripting, as the majority of our backend is implemented in Python.

    A solid grasp of current and future cloud offerings, as well as the associated risks pertaining to security, privacy, data ingestion, processing, and storage.
