    Job purpose

    Under the direction of the Director of Safety & Security, the Health & Safety Manager is responsible ensuring safe work environments according to workplace safety standards.

    Develop, implement, and administer safety and health programs.

    Coordinates and maintains environmental, health and safety programs with the aim of eliminating accidents, property loss, harm to the environment and compliance with all applicable regulations.

    Educate, train, and provide support to operations in the development and execution of consistent safety management programs. Ensure compliance with all safety programs. Improve the quality of safety and environmental management processes following established regulations, policies, standards, and practices. Direct a proactive health and safety program.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    Collects, tracks, reports, and analyzes the site's key environmental health and safety performance data and metrics.

    Reviews all injury/illness and non-injury incident investigation reports and follows-up as necessary Inspect and evaluate the environment, equipment, and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards including OSHA.

    Submits corrective solutions to risks while also making fiscal and operational considerations. Assists in safety and quality activities and improvement projects as directed by manager. Informs managers and supervisors of regulatory changes with which the company must comply.
    Serve as health compliance expert on matters related to health outbreaks and emergencies.

    Act as safety compliance liaison with all departments and departmental safety coordinators on behalf of the Director of Safety and Security.

    Coordinate regular safety inspections of all public-facing spaces to provide patron safety. Including tracking and reporting safety incidents, preparing analysis of incidents causes and hazards, and identifying solutions.
    Coordinate and provide training for staff utilizing arial lifts, including scissor lifts and fort trucks.

    Explore development of a Safety Awards Program at the DCPA and implement and manage as needed.
    Organize Health and Safety communications.

    Coordinate Emergency response planning and training with Director of Safety and Security Manager and VP of Venue Operations on drills and training programs, including fire drills, CPR/AED Training, OSHA, and regularly update the DCPA Emergency Management document.

    Monitors and ensures the proper operation of alarm systems, AED Equipment, First Aid Cabinets, and fire extinguishers.
    Recommend equipment upgrades or changes in the facility to protect workers.
    Educate employees on how to prevent health problems using safety training programs.

    Promoting good working practices for employees by staying abreast of environmental changes and regulations to ensure operations comply with environmental legislation regarding safety in the workplace.

    Collaborate with Facilities Financial Manager on budget proposals as a support to the Director of Facilities.
    Manage and maintain the Safety Data online database and hazard communication programs to DCPA employees and emergency responders.
    Coordinate with Human Resources to develop and maintain policies and procedures related to EHS.
    Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications
    Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field of study. Years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
    5 years of experience managing safety programs preferred.
    Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of a safety program in a professional or event workplace.
    Knowledge of OSHA regulations and hazard recognition, record keeping and injury management skills.
    OSHA 30-Hours Training, OSHA 500 or 501 preferred.
    CPR/First Aid training preferred.
    Analytical and problem-solving skills
    Ability to conduct research and use resources available to quickly develop Health and Safety proposals.
    Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
    Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and work closely with internal departments and external entities.
    Ability to exercise good judgment and work under pressure. Capacity to effectively work with sensitive information.
    Embraces and executes DCPA's mission and values.
    Ability to interact with and establish working relationships with local authorities and vendors.
    Working knowledge and experience with common office computer systems, including Microsoft Office, and skilled in developing spreadsheets

    Working conditions
    This position operates in a professional and creative environment. Job is ambulatory within all facilities, requires working in office settings, public spaces, and construction zones. May be on-call after regular business hours in emergencies.

    Physical requirements
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

    The employee frequently is required to move around the office and work environment; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

    Compensation
    $75,000 - $81,500 Annually
