- Experience in data migration tools / methods to migrate on-prem data to cloud with minimal downtime to applications
- Experience in analysis, capacity planning, designing, and configuration of Azure SQL database systems
- Extensive experience in automation tools like Terraform
- Set up & manage SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups (AAG) and Distributed AAG (DAAG) methods
- Strong experience in performance tuning
- Automate day-to-day migration related activities
- Set up monitoring and alerting of Azure databases
- Build and automate database maintenance jobs in Azure (Ex: backups, index maintenance, update stats, check db...)

Description:
Our client is looking for a SQL DBA with 6+ years of experience to join their data platforms team (10 people on the team) as they strive to become more of a data-driven organization. Embarking on a large-scale migration to Azure, they are creating their strategy and identifying opportunities to consolidate databases as they migrate. This SQL DBA will be performing about 60-70% day to day operational work. Work with application owners, identify new requirements, build new servers, and build new databases. 30-40% of their time will be spent on the new projects. One of the big projects they have going on is migrating an on-prem SQL server to the cloud.
Performance tuning and SQL will be a focus when it comes to screening for this role.
Strong experience in migrating on-prem SQL systems into Azure data platforms (PaaS & IaaS)
