    Job Description


    We are looking for motivated new grad software engineers to help build our Cloud database-as-a-service product Astra, based on Apache Cassandra.

    Whether developing the core database, APIs, or building the platform to run the database in the cloud, youll advance your skills with the latest technologies including Java, Golang, Kubernetes, distributed systems and public cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure).

    Even more exciting is that you will be contributing back to open source Apache Cassandra. Astra is used by many major organizations across the world

    What you will do:
    Develop new features, enhancements, and bug-fixes on Astra, a highly scalable, multi-tenant, serverless database.
    Collaborate with internal teams across DataStax to coordinate releases, support existing
    customers through defect fixes and improvements, and review/advise on documentation for the project
    Contribute to the Open Source Software (OSS) community by contributing to Apache Cassandra OSS contributions to DataStax products supporting Cassandra (Drivers, K8sandra, Stargate)
    Model solid engineering practices around architectural design, testability, scalability and
    maintainability.
    Foster community growth through your involvement in the Cassandra OSS Community.

    Your Experience should include:
    Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar discipline
    Experience or strong knowledge of distributed and high throughput applications
    A deep knowledge of Java and JVM ecosystem of open source libraries and projects
    Understanding of algorithms, data structures and software design
    Strong coding skills with at least one of the following (Java, Golang, Python, or C/C++)
    Proven record of development up and down the stack
    Solid understanding of concurrency and distributed computing
    Experience with at least one major public cloud provider
    Familiarity with bug tracking tools, version control tools, build automation tools, and test automation tools
    Understanding of


    SDLC:
    Plan, Track, Code, Build, Test, Deploy and Monitor
    Prior experience contributing to open source projects
    Experience with database internals (preferably NoSQL)
    Experience with Apache Cassandra
    Experience with Go, Docker, and Kubernetes
    Experience with containers and docker orchestration
    Experience with cloud-scale Saas applications
