    Responsibilities:

    Under the direct guidance of the Healthcare Research Director, the Healthcare Design Researcher will advise, educate and support Page design professionals in the application of research in daily practice. Researcher will be instrumental in identifying proper means of project outcome measurement for internal and external unbiased, robust reporting. Additional responsibilities include direct preparation of national conference level presentations. This individual will be responsible for keeping apprised of current trends regarding clinical operations and design research to identify opportunities for innovative design responses as well as identify knowledge gaps that will position us as thought leaders in healthcare design and design research.

    Research in daily architectural practice includes but not limited to providing the following services to firm leadership, architects and interior designers:

    • Leads and empowers project teams to formulate hypotheses immediately following visioning and guiding principles processes.
    • Leads kick -off meetings with clients to obtain approval to proceed regarding facility pre move and post move facility performance evaluation (FPE) processes. A willingness to travel is a strong consideration.
    • Conducts in-house lunch and learns in partnership with the healthcare research director and / or medical planners for AIA and EDAC credits based on data/ knowledge gained in daily architectural practice.
    • Assists senior leaders in preparation for client interviews and national presentations relative to trends, innovations and recent environmental design and research literature.
    • Assists senior leaders in identifying innovative responses relative to trends and references.
    • Assist with preparation of research award submission such as CHD Touchstone Awards.
    • Supervises compliance with best EBD practices through strategically selected architecture teams monthly check-in calls.
    • Works as a collaborator in production of national presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
    • Works closely with part time graduate students for regular reconciliation between citation software and in house reference repository.
    Qualifications:
    • Doctoral degree (PhD) in design research, analysis and/or design research education.
    • Masters or bachelors degree in one the following fields: Architecture, Interior Design, Ergonomics and Human Factors, Environmental Psychology, Anthropology, Nursing, Allied Health.
    • Demonstrated design research skills and application in identifying industry knowledge gaps to formulate innovative, original, industry wide questions with the goal to drive new and improved healthcare design and construction guidelines, leading to further position the firm as a thought leader in healthcare design.
    • Experienced in systematic literature review, conceptual framework, methods and tools development, direct observation, data collection, data analysis (quantitative and qualitative), simulation supervision and analysis. Experience with large health systems IRB process is a plus.
    • EDAC certification preferred but not required.

    Skills:

    • Data analysis skills: Competence in SPSS, R Studio, Chi-square analysis parametric and non-parametric analysis
    • Knowledge of Noldus Observer XT and Vocera is a plus.
    • Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe 360 Suite.
    • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD and Bluebeam is a preference.
