Job description
Duties:
Be familiar with swim lesson levels and know how to use course materials effectively. Adapt your teaching approaches to the age, experience and ability of participants so they can meet course objectives.
Provide for the health and safety of participants, including ensuring that all teaching and practice areas are free of hazards, and that materials and equipment are safe.
Cover all material required in a level. Communicate regularly with participants and their parents, as appropriate, to ensure they are aware of progress. Act as a Lifeguard for the City of Pasadena when not administering swim lesson. Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies in accordance with facility emergency action plans. Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules and regulations. Complete records and reports. Participate in regular in-service training sessions. Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor.Customer Satisfaction:
Display customer service with greetings, surveys, and acknowledgements. Handle customer concerns promptly and provide feedback to ensure customer satisfaction.
In-Service Trainings:
Weekly In-Services are mandatory for lifeguards. Make-up In-Services must be completed before returning to lifeguard stand.
Required Work Days/Times/Hours:
Water Safety Instructors may work up to 39 hours work week. Depending on the pool site, hours may vary but may be scheduled to work as early as 7:15 a.m. and as late as 9:00 p.m. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Works the assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy.
Qualifications:
American Red Cross in Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguarding, CPR with AED, First Aid, blood borne pathogens, and Water Park certification.
Salary:
$13.50 per hour
