- Plans and conducts independent limited examinations and related investigations of individual and business taxpayers, exempt organizations, employee plans, or government entities involving complex tax issues and accounting records. Activities include investigations of strategic or special emphasis programs such as claims, non-filers, worker classification, tip reporting, and fringe benefits. Specialties include Federal Income Tax Withholding (FITW), Federal Insurance Contribution Act (FICA), and Federal Unemployment Tax Act (FUTA).
- Advises taxpayers of their rights, examination procedures, and current tax responsibilities.
- Conducts required filing checks and identifies issues for pursuit based on significant tax or compliance effects.
- Assesses collectability of tax deficiencies, solicits payments or offers installment agreements, and prepares documentation of findings.
- Telework eligibility subject to meeting IRS requirements.
- U.S. Citizenship or Nationality required.
- Prior performance review, income tax verification, and background check mandatory.
- Completion of Federal employment declaration and Personal Identity Verification.
- Compliance with the Fair Chance to Compete for Jobs Act.
- 1-year probationary period.
- Salary via Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
