    Job Description/Summary:

    The Child Life Specialist I, in collaboration with members of the health care team, promotes optimum growth and development of pediatric patients and their families by creating a therapeutic environment which minimizes psychological trauma and promotes mastery of health care experiences.

    #Additionally, the CLS prepares patients for hospital experiences and provides support as appropriate. #The CLS supports the family system and facilitates positive coping.


    Position Requirements:

    Minimum Education:
    Bachelor#s degree in Education, Child Life, Child Development or related field required Minimum Experience:
    ##To have completed clinical internship (minimum of 600 hrs) in a pediatric hospital setting

    # Certification Required:

    Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) required within 6 months of hire.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    Ability and willingness to adapt to changing priorities and aggressive project deadlines.

    Effective organizational and time management skills Ability to maintain standards of performance under changing conditions Knowledge of functional medical terminology Knowledge of regulatory requirements including, The Joint Commission Standards, CMS, CDPH regulations, state and federal regulatory agency requirements standards and regulations as applied to Child Life Services.


    Technical Knowledge:
    Basic computer skills in word processing and on line communication. Prior experience with electronic medical records preferred. Knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

    Up to 6 hours


    Bend/Stoop:
    Up to 3 hours

    Rep Use of UE/Grasp:

    Up to 6 hrs Lift/Push/Pull: 25 lbs, over 25# with assistance or equipment This job requires the ability to hear alarms clients and/or instruction.

    The ability to see accurately from 20 inches to 20-ft. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential function of this position.
