Position Information Job Title Part-time Faculty in Economics, Finance, and Personal Financial Planning Rank Lecturer Tenure Information Non-Tenure Track Summary The Department of Economics and Finance in the Boler College of Business invites applications for part-time faculty positions for teaching in the areas of economics, finance, and financial planning beginning in Summer 2024. Part-time faculty generally teach 1 to 2 courses per semester.

John Carroll University is a private, coeducational, Jesuit Catholic university founded in 1886 and dedicated to developing women and men with the knowledge and character to lead and to serve. The University is located in University Heights, Ohio, an attractive residential suburb 10 miles east of downtown Cleveland. John Carroll University is one of 27 Jesuit universities in the United States and has been listed in U.S. News and World Report magazine's top 10 rankings of Midwest regional universities for over 25 consecutive years. Bloomberg ranked The Boler College number 1 in preparing students for the workplace. The Department of Economics and Finance includes 10 full-time tenure-track faculty. The economics group currently includes four full-time, tenure-track faculty in addition to several lecturers. The Boler College subscribes to The Center for Research in Security Prices (CRSP) and Capital IQ, has an active research seminar series, and has easy access to a variety of research seminars at nearby institutions.

Prepare course materials and pedagogy in order to achieve course learning goals and objectives;

Employ appropriate pedagogy for the nature of assigned courses;

Conduct classes and deliver course material on assigned days and times;

Utilize University Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver course information to students.

Evaluate and grade student work in a timely manner;

Maintain availability to students during posted hours to assist students;

Respond promptly to departmental and student communications;

Meet periodically with supervisors and colleagues for collaboration, training, and development;

Participate in departmental efforts to assess student learning; and

Respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population.

Required Qualifications A graduate degree in business (MBA), economics, finance, financial planning/wealth management, or a closely related field, from an accredited university.
An undergraduate degree with a nationally recognized certification such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP),j or Certified Business Economist (CBE), as appropriate to teaching responsibilities.
A commitment to outstanding teaching and delivering an excellent student experience is required. Candidates should possess a strong record of professional service and be willing to engage in departmental and university service appropriate to their rank.
